Suspect charged in stabbing death of a Gulfport man

A Gulfport man is being charged with one count of first-degree murder in the death of James Andrew Higgins.  Police responded to a residence in the 600 block of 25th Street in reference to a welfare check Sunday, November 7th.  59-year-old James Higgins was found dead, and appeared to be the victim of a homicide.
Investigators say Higgins and Phillip Latrell Collins had gotten into an argument that led to a physical confrontation, where Collins stabbed Higgins multiple times and then fled.
Collins is being held at the Harrison County Adult Detention Facility without bond.
