Reed entered the plea during her arraignment in Copiah County Circuit Court in Hazlehurst before Judge Lamar Pickard. She was served with an indictment June 7 at the county jail.

Pickard denied bail for Reed and set her trial for July 23.

The 65-year-old Reed was first reported missing in April 2012 by her daughter after Reed’s car was found abandoned on a county road near Crystal Springs. Her status changed from missing to wanted for embezzlement in the summer.

Her family searched for her for nearly five months until she was located in Longview, Texas where she was arrested in October, working as a bookkeeper in her own name and official identification.

Authorities say Reed allegedly embezzled $20,000 from her Mississippi employer, Moore’s Fabrications. She had worked for the company since 1999. They say an accountant found the money missing from petty cash fund.
