It’s almost here, the reason that the teams have played over 20 games so far. The reason that coaches are trying to finalize their different lineups. The reason that players are taking extra shots after practice, doing extra workouts on the weekend, and preparing to be as sharp as possible mentally. The basketball playoffs are almost here. Of course it kicks off with the district tournaments which will be starting around Feb. 5. You must win in the first round or your season and for some, your basketball career is over. After the district tourney, then comes the north/state tournament. This tournament usually requires some traveling. Survive this round and you’ll be big house bound. The big house is where every team strives to make it. They know if you make it here, you have a chance to win it all. Some of the state’s best teams and players have played at the big house. But that’s a story for another day.
Right now, as teams have their senior nights, recognizing their senior players, the REAL season is officially in their sights. They all know the rule, it’s very simple. Win or go home.
