RIDGELAND – The Ridgeland Police Department (RPD) has confirmed that Jobie Martin is “deceased.”
However an officer answering the phone at RPD told The Mississippi Link that the official details will not be available until after 6 a.m., Sunday, March 27.
The Mississippi Link inquired about Martin after receiving an email from an official of the Jackson State University Alumni Association that he had been killed in a car accident.
A Clarion-Ledger post stated, “At least one fatality has been confirmed in a Saturday afternoon car accident on Interstate 220 near Hanging Moss Road. Former Jackson television and radio personality Jobie Martin died from injuries sustained in the collision, according to Ridgeland police. Ridgeland and Jackson police [were at the scene] investigating the incident, which was reported around 2:30 p.m.”
