Cashier among those arrested for armed robbery

JACKSON – Police believe that an armed robbery at a Jackson business over the weekend may have been inside job. Officer Colendula Green, of the Jackson Police Department, said that 23-year old Tomeka Strong was arrested after allegedly admitting that she and several others conspired to rob the Kroger Gas Station at 4910 I-55 North.

Green said on Saturday, Jan. 29, a masked suspect came in the store, approached the clerk, brandished a weapon and demanded money. The clerk, complying with the suspect’s demands, handed over a large sum of money.

Strong was on duty as a cashier at the time of the robbery.

Green said after another Kroger employee learned of the robbery, Strong was then interviewed.

“Jackson Police detectives and Kroger Loss Prevention employees met and interviewed the cashier that was identified as the person who may have set this robbery up,” Green said. “Strong admitted that she and several others came up with a plan on how to rob the Kroger Gas Station.”

Strong, Krystie Davis, 23, Devonte Jefferson, 20, and Miranda Johnson, 23, were arrested and charged with armed robbery. A fifth unidentified suspect is also being questioned about the robbery which remains under investigation.
