5 shot dead in 3 incidents; 6th man falls to his death

BAY ST. LOUIS – (AP) Three shootings in one day killed five Hancock County residents. A man suspected in one of the shootings died when he fell from a cell phone tower as police tried to talk him down.

The names of those killed Saturday were being withheld until families could be notified.

Waveland Police tell WLOX-TV they believe the man who fell had shot three people in a domestic dispute at a Bay St. Louis residence. Coroner Jim Faul says two of the victims were husband and wife.

Meanwhile, deputies are investigating the shooting death of a man in front of a Waveland house.

The fifth death was a man shot in the head while in bed in Kiln. A woman living with him, 37-year-old Virginia Hill, has been charged with murder.

Dwayne Bremer, the Public Information Officer for the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department said the autopsies will probably be done one after the other.

“We have never had this volume in one day. This is unprecedented,” Bremer told WLOX. “Usually we only have a few murders in Hancock County in a year.”

Additional details will not be available until Monday, a dispatcher said.
