Woman held without bond for killing club-owner boyfriend

JACKSON – Authorities said a 45-year old woman is being held without bond after she allegedly shot her live-in boyfriend to death early Friday morning. Officer Colendula Green, spokesperson for the Jackson Police Department, said officers arrived at Thomas’ home about 6:30 a.m. Friday following an argument between Thomas and 33-year old Houston Turnage.

Turnage, the owner of Floods Bar and Grill on Bailey Avenue, was reportedly found in a bedroom of the home rented by Thomas with a single gunshot wound to the chest.

Unconfirmed reports said Turnage allegedly physically assaulted Thomas at Floods earlier in the night and she got a ride home from family members. Moments after Turnage returned to the residence in the 1200 block of Fern Creek Drive, he was shot.

Turnage was pronounced dead at the scene and Thomas was still at the home when police arrived.

“The suspect was there and the victim was there deceased,” said Green. “The weapon was recovered and Thomas was arrested without incident.”

Thomas appeared in court on Monday and the judge ordered her held without bond.

The incident remains under investigation.
