The Mound Bayou Police Department arrested nearly two dozen people Saturday, after they were warned, in advance, to pay their back fines or risk being taken into custody. After obtaining 87 arrest warrants, more than 10 officers were on the street before daybreak in an effort to recoup money owed to the city, WABG reported.

The ‘surprise’ roundup resulted in the payment of $5,000 in back fines, drug confiscation, and an arrest for a marijuana possession.

Mound Bayou Mayor Kennedy Johnson said anyone with back fines should heed the warning and ‘pay up’ before they are arrested.
