Suspect arrested in ‘church’ murder

JACKSON – Authorities said a man has been arrested and charged with murder after a woman was found stabbed to death behind a church in Port Gibson. After a two week investigation, the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations charged 40-year old Dexter Watson with the murder of Patricia Dotson.

Dotson’s body was found on Sunday, March 6 behind First Baptist Church by a congregant opening the church for morning services.

MBI officials said with the help of the Mississippi State Crime Lab, investigators were able to match Dotson’s blood with the blood that was found on Watson’s clothes.

Pending the investigation and possible prosecution, authorities would not release many details about the case, but said the investigation is ongoing and any findings will be turned over to the Claiborne County District Attorney’s office.
