Brandon, Carroll and Montgomery among closings
JACKSON – The Associated Press is reporting that state government offices in most parts of Mississippi will be closed until noon Monday because of concerns about winter weather.
Gov. Haley Barbour issued a statement Sunday night saying the closure applies in all parts of the state except the three coastal counties – Hancock, Harrison and Jackson. State government offices in those three counties will open as usual.
Barbour says if the weather deteriorates, state agency directors can decide whether to keep government offices in the other 79 counties closed beyond noon Monday.
Along with that, Pearl River Community College issued this statement;
“All campuses of Pearl River Community College will be closed Monday morning because of the possibility of icy roads in part of PRCC’s six-county district. Offices will open and classes will be held starting at 12 p.m.
Schools in Carroll and Montgomery Counties will be closed as will the Montgomery County Courthouse and Montgomery County Health Department. The Carroll County Extension Office is also closed.
