Cause of death not released

Perry County officials said a missing Hattiesburg woman was found dead in a cemetery early Wednesday morning. Alyne Yvette Carson, 59, had been missing for a day before her body was discovered.

Authorities are not releasing many details at this time, but they did say her vehicle, a 2002 Toyota minivan was parked outside the cemetery on U.S. Highway 29 just north of New Augusta.

No cause of death has been given. The incident remains under investigation.

Man shot in truck

Booneville police are investigating a shooting that occurred Friday night in the parking lot of the water and gas department, that left one man critically injured. Authorities said a man, who was not identified, was sitting in his truck, at the building on Main and Court Streets. Shots were fired and the man was hit.

Authorities said the man then drove himself nearly a block away before he received help. He was later airlifted to a Memphis hospital.

One suspect is custody, but the incident remains under investigation.

Man robs house on his way home

Prentiss County authorities believe a man was on his way home from work when he decided to break into a house. WCBI reported that Paul Franklin Besinger was arrested after he was caught loading merchandise from the home into his car.

WCBI reported that a neighbor called authorities to report a suspicious car in the area and police arrived and caught Besinger in the act. Besinger was charged with burglary and his bond was set at $5,000.

Three people injured in two-car accident

A two-car accident sent three people to the hospital last Friday afternoon. Authorities said the accident occurred around 4:45 p.m., on Oct. 15. Jerry Houlser, 21, was traveling southbound on Rocky Ford Road when he reportedly pulled in front of 18-year old Katherine Williams, of Alpharetta, Ga.

Houlser was ejected from his vehicle and he was transported to North Mississippi Medical Center in serious condition. Williams, a student at Ole Miss, was critically injured and she was also transported to North Mississippi, but with life-threatening injuries.

Williams’ passenger, another student at Ole Miss, 18-year old Megan Frahrmeir, sustained minor injuries in the accident.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.

31 cadets graduate from MDCC

Thirty-one cadets graduated last week from the law enforcement training academy at Mississippi Delta Community College. WABG reported that the class was part of the 10-B-37 class, and the graduation was held at the Tharp Auditorium on the Moorhead Campus.

Louisville Police Chief L.M. Clairborne was the guest speaker and the cadets were presented with their certificates before they took their oath of honor.

The cadets were later dismissed to their respective law enforcement agencies.
