MDOT commissioner Bill Minor falls ill at meeting; dies

JACKSON – Officials at the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) announced the death of Northern District Transportation Commissioner and Chairman William Minor.

“Commissioner Minor was rushed to the Biloxi Regional Medical Center after 8 a.m. this morning and was later pronounced dead at 9:15 a.m.,” said Carrie Adams, a MDOT spokesperson. “He will be transported to his hometown of Holly Springs, Mississippi, where funeral arrangements are still pending.”

Minor was attending an annual meeting of the American Association of State Highway Transportation Officials at the Beau Rivage, when unofficial sources said he suffered a “heart related event.”

Adams said MDOT will issue another statement about Minor’s death later this week.

Bill Minor was 68.
