Jackson, Mississippi – Marshand Crisler has been endorsed by former Jackson Police
Chief and State Corrections Commissioner, Robert Johnson. They held a press
conference in front of the Jackson Police Department on Wednesday, May 13.
“After careful consideration of the two candidates, their positions on the issues
most important to me – crime, neighborhood development and infrastructure
improvement – I have decided to support Marshand Crisler for Mayor of Jackson”, said
Johnson.
“I believe he possesses the energy, motivation and willingness to engage and
cooperate with all segments of Jackson to move our city forward. The city of Jackson
simply can’t go backward despite the present condition that it is in”, Johnson
continued.
Marshand Crisler said he was proud to have Johnson’s endorsement and discussed the
commitment they share to making Jackson a safer city and stronger community. “I
have 21-years of military experience and 17-years experience in law enforcement,
today, two people who have real experience fighting crime and reducing crime have
joined together”, stated Crisler.
Crisler said in his first 100 days he would reinstate the crime prevention unit and
implement an aggressive recruitment program for JPD. He also said his agenda for
the first 100 days would include the development and implementation of a pay plan to
help retain quality officers. Crisler affirmed that he believes stability in the
chief’s position is critical, “we must a have strong, stable leader as Jackson Chief

Councilman Marshand Crisler has been married to his wife of 22-years, Charlotte.
The couple have three children, Rashaad, Dominique, and Marshea. Marshand and his
family belong to the New Jerusalem Church Congregation and live in South Jackson.
