Man steals ATM machine from state building

JACKSON – A Pearl man has been arrested and linked to several robberies in Hinds and Rankin Counties, including one at the Mississippi Highway Patrol’s driver services building. Pearl police said Chance Hardin, 30, is suspected of throwing a heavy object through a glass window at the Mississippi Department of Public Safety’s headquarters and then rolling the ATM out the front door.

Authorities also believe Hardin broke into a maintenance shop and removed tools in order to break into the ATM. Officials said $380 was stolen.

Hardin is also linked to two other crimes including the theft of a car in the Trustmark Park parking lot and a break-in at Midsouth Auto Auctions.

Police said Corrina Brown, 20, was also involved in the burglary at Midsouth Auto Auctions and she was charged with one count of business burglary and one count of accessory after the fact. Brown was released on a $25,000

Hardin is being held without bond in the Rankin County Jail.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation was contacted by Pearl Police following Hardin’s arrest and plan to bring charges against him in Hinds County.

All incidents remain under investigation.
