Kilmichael man charged with shooting ex-girlfriend

Gerry Robinson

EUPORA – A Webster County woman remains in critical condition after authorities said her ex-boyfriend allegedly shot her during an argument. Gerry Bernard Robinson, 43, is being held on a $200,000 bond for allegedly shooting Antoinette Gill outside a residence in Eupora last week. Robinson is also charged with shooting Gill’s friend, Carl Patterson.

Eupora Police Chief Gregg Hunter said at 10:45 p.m., on Sept. 13, he responded to a residence on Martin Luther King Drive in reference to two people being shot. Hunter said when he arrived, Robinson had already left the scene.

“My officers had already secured the scene and the two victims were being placed in an ambulance,” Hunter said. “We began to interview the witnesses and gather evidence and we began an immediate search for the suspect.”

Hunter said Gill had been shot multiple times in the chest and pelvic area and Patterson had been shot multiple times in the pelvic and leg area.

Hunter said Gill remains in critical condition at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo and Patterson is at UMC in Jackson, also in critical condition.

Deputy Calvin Young, of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department, said he is personally acquainted with Robinson’s family in Kilmichael, and he became involved in the case when they called him and told him to meet them at Tyler Holmes Hospital in Winona.

“They told me they were taking him up there because he had been shot,” Young said. “He had been shot in the foot.”

Young said he didn’t question Robinson about his injuries because the incident occurred in Webster County. Chief Hunter, however, said whether Robinson shot himself during the altercation or if he was injured by another person “is still under investigation,” he said.

Once Robinson was released from Tyler Holmes he was transported by Deputy Young to the Webster County line where police met them and took Robinson into custody.

Robinson was charged with one count of domestic aggravated assault and one count of aggravated assault.

Robinson remains behind bars and he was scheduled to appear in court for his preliminary hearing on Tuesday, Sept. 20.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigations is also assisting with this case.
