Fire rips through another apartment in Starkville

STARKVILLE – In less than two weeks, firefighters are battling another blaze at a Starkville apartment complex. WTVA is reporting that crews are on the scene of a fire at the Campus Trails Apartments. The apartments are about a mile east of the Mississippi State University campus.

Authorities are not reporting any injuries at this time.

On April 6, 64 people were left homeless when the Crossgates Apartment Complex on Stark Road caught fire destroying four buildings in a matter of hours.

Authorities said the cause of that fire may have been the result of smoking.

In December 2009, six children and three women were killed in Starkville, when their apartment building on Mississippi Highway 25 South caught fire.

Officials said all of the victims died of smoke inhalation. The cause of that blaze was also blamed on cigarettes.
