Field Day at ASU Incubator Farm to share research, demonstrates results

ALCORN STATE, Miss. – Farmers, consultants, and others interested in Mississippi agriculture will have an opportunity to hear about results of current research and demonstration projects during the annual field day on Thursday, May 13, 2010.

The event will be held at the Alcorn State University Incubator Farm near Preston in Kemper County from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

“We expect this event to provide research-based information on alternative enterprises, assist in creating new marketing information, increase financing opportunities as well as collaboration opportunities for farmers, researchers and extension,” said Dr. Franklin Chukwuma, coordinator off-campus centers.

ASU researchers and extension professionals as well as scientists and extension personnel from Mississippi State University and the Natural Resource Conservation Service will be on hand to present current research findings, describe demonstration plot results, and respond to questions. Topics will include vegetable production, pasture poultry, farm financial management, and the identification and control of pests on vegetable crops.

The event is open to the public and free of charge.  For additional information contact Farm Manager Mr. Phil Luke at (662) 773-7128.
