UMMC to enter lease agreement for Grenada Lake Medical Center

With approval Thursday from the State Institutions of Higher Learning Board of Trustees, University of Mississippi Medical Center leaders will sign an agreement to lease the 156-bed Grenada Lake Medical Center from the Grenada County Board of Supervisors.

Hankins Lumber Company re-opening in Grenada

Officials from Hankins Lumber Company announced this week that the company is reopening its facility in Grenada following a 15-month closure due to the downturn in the economy.

The project represents a $1.5 million investment and is creating 120 jobs, many of which will be filled by former employees working at the facility when it closed.

A producer of southern yellow pine products, Hankins Lumber Company produces and supplies a variety of lumber and related products for commercial and residential clients throughout Mississippi, as well as the country’s retail and wholesale markets. […]

Funk Brothers get star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Grenada native and Motown superstar Eddie “Chank” Willis and Jack Ashford of the Funk Brothers were recently honored for their musical contributions with a star of the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

“We are happy to honor The Funk Brothers on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!” stated Hollywood Chamber of Commerce President/CEO, Leron Gubler. “Many of us grew up with their amazing hit songs which they performed with some of the biggest stars of Motown!”

Grenada metal stamping plant adding 35 jobs

Officials at Ice Industries Grenada said they are adding 35 jobs and investing $500,000 in an expansion.
