Ala. man guilty in Miss. slaying of 81-year-old woman

An Alabama man has been found guilty in the 2010 murder of an 81-year-old woman from Clinton, Miss.

Forty-one-year-old James Cobb Hutto was convicted of capital murder by a jury that deliberated Saturday for around two hours. He could face the death penalty.

MEMA: Weather causes damage in numerous counties

The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency says severe weather caused damage in at least 10 counties as storms moved through parts of the state Monday afternoon.

MEMA said damage was reported to homes in Grenada, Itawamba, Lowndes, Tallahatchie and Union counties. There were reports of downed trees in several other counties.

There were also reports of high winds lifting at least two semi-tractor trailers into the air, with one left dangling over a highway in Lee County. […]

First Lady Michelle Obama visits Clinton Middle School

First lady Michelle Obama and Food Network star Rachael Ray visited about 400 students at Northside and Eastside Elementary Schools in Clinton Wednesday in celebration of the third anniversary of Mrs. Obama’s “Let’s Move” campaign.
