Tupelo mom, 2-year-old daughter killed when runaway 18-wheeler crushes their parked car

TUPELO, Mississippi -(AP) — Authorities have released the names of a woman and her young daughter who were killed Friday in Tupelo while sitting in a vehicle that was struck by a runaway tractor-trailer.

Lee County coroner Carolyn Green says 20-year-old Olidia Acosta and 2-year-old Vianett Castillo were in a parking lot outside an auto insurance office when the incident happened…. […]

Woman and granddaughter killed in crash

WTVA is reporting that a Baldwyn woman and her granddaughter were killed in a car accident Saturday afternoon after a driver ran a stop sign forcing her car into traffic.

Deborah Hill, 59, died Saturday night about 8:34 p.m., and her granddaughter, 11-year-old Montana Roberts, was pronounced dead at the scene following the collision on Highway 145 and Pratts/Friendship Road.

Lee County Coroner Carolyn said it appeared Hill was hit by a car coming toward Highway 145 that never stopped at the stop sign. The resulting hit pushed the car into oncoming traffic, WTVA reported. […]

Murder-suicide confirmed in deaths of couple and child in Lee County

A coroner has confirmed that two adults and a 13-year-old girl found shot to death in a home in Lee County Tuesday were the victims of a murder-suicide. The bodies of 55-year-old Wiley Young, 46-year-old Danica McCord and her daughter, Destiny McCord were discovered around 8:30 a.m. March 26.

Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson said an officer with the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks arrived at the residence on County Road 49 and found the victims after efforts to contact them had failed.
