

HUNTSVILLE, Alabama (AP) — John Gibbs Jr. scored three touchdowns to lead Alcorn State over Alabama A&M 41-14 on Saturday.
Gibbs had touchdown runs of 58 and 31 yards, and threw a 32-yard TD pass to LaDarrien Davis. Anthony Williams III ran for 7- and 3-yard scores and Alcorn State led 35-0 at halftime. Gibbs finished with 155 yards rushing and 77 yards passing.
Arron Baker bullied in from the 2 to stretch the Braves’ lead to 41-0 with 5:03 to play in the third quarter.
Alcorn State (8-2, 6-1 Southwestern Athletic Conference) has won three straight and leads the East Division. Its only loss in the last eight games came against conference leader Grambling State (7-0, 7-3), which beat Mississippi Valley State (1-7, 2-8) on Thursday night.
Jaymason Lee connected with Devone Johnson with two touchdown passes to avoid the shutout for Alabama A&M (4-6, 3-4).
