New Horizon – on the move

“What we are doing has come about because of a culmination of a lot of prayer and hard work. This is a dream come true for us. The people of New Horizon believed in a vision and through the Grace of God, it is has happened. We are making a move that can help to change a community,” said Bishop Ronnie Crudup, Sr.

Crudup, the senior pastor of New Horizon Church Internation-al, members of the church, area politicians and dignitaries, along with the Jackson community, will take part in a celebration series, which will begin with a special event on Saturday, Nov. 14, at 11 a.m.

All who would like to participate can join the church family as they march from their old church building at 2650 Belvedere Dr., to the new church at 1770 Ellis Ave., also known as the old Ellis Isle Shopping Center, which once housed major retailers Sack & Save Groceries, Wal-Mart and a movie theatre.

“We brought this shopping center to be a part of the revitalization of our city and the excitement that is surrounding this move has helped to bring new life back to the shopping center area. A lot of people are calling to inquire about available space in the building and we are excited that they want to help promote economic development in an area that many have begun to take for granted,” said Crudup.

Church members will begin the move celebration with a Prayer Rally at the new location on Friday, Nov. 13, at 6 p.m. On Saturday, marchers and those being transported by shuttle will move with fanfare from area bands which will include Wingfield and Lanier High Schools and Peeples Middle School. A motorcycle brigade will also be included in the celebration. Once everyone reaches the new church location, festivities will continue on the grounds with plenty of food and fellowship.

Although the members of New Horizon Church International have had an extremely busy week, which has been and is still filled with prayer, thanksgiving, and a lot of movement, this is just one of many phases the congregation is completing.

There are additional plans to bring in a skating rink, a banquet facility, more office space made available for business owners, and opportunity to help lure restaurants to the surrounding area.

“Our first service will actually be held at 9 a.m. that Sunday morning (Nov. 15). We want to see all of our friends across the city join us as we thank God for this dream come true,” said Crudup.

The celebration will continue throughout the months of November and December, which will include joint services with area churches, gospel concerts and a dedication service on Monday, Dec. 2, at 7 p.m.
