Three-year old killed in Tuesday’s storm

MCCOMB – Authorities said one of the fatalities from this week’s deadly storms was a 3-year old girl from Pike County. WLBT reported that Jabriel M. Branch died after high winds sent a huge tree crashing through her home.

The storm swept through McComb just before 6 a.m., on April 26, while Jabriel and her parents were sleeping in the same bed at their residence in the 100 block of Georgia Avenue.

Authorities said the tree crashed through the roof and landed on the family’s bed.

Family members told WJTV that Jabriel had her own bed, but loved to sleep with her parents.

Pike County officials said Jabriel, her mother, Chaquanna Miller, and father, Jeremy Branch, had to be cut from the home because of the severity of the damage.

Jabriel reportedly died on the way to the hospital while her parents were both treated for non-life threatening injuries in the emergency room.

WLBT also said that trees fell on at least five other homes in McComb but the only injuries reported were at the Branch home.

Funeral arrangements for Jabriel have not been confirmed.
