Robbed the bank at gunpoint

Authorities in Marshall County are looking for three men who allegedly robbed a Holly Springs bank Thursday afternoon. WTVA reported that on May 20, around 1 p.m., three men entered the Slayden Bank on U.S. Highway 72 with guns.

Deputies said the men were reportedly brought to the bank in a red car, possibly a Kia, and fled the scene on foot heading north.

Anyone who recognizes the robbers in the pictures is asked to call Marshall County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-729-2169.

Man shoots through house, injures resident

Clarksdale police are investigating the case of a man who allegedly shot into a house injuring the resident. Michael Jones, 36, was arrested and charged with shooting into a dwelling after authorities said he fired into a home on Russwin Street.

A male subject in the house was shot in the leg.

Authorities did not identify the victim, but did say he was treated and released from a local hospital.

Bond for Jones had not been set.

Madison teacher turns himself in

A Madison County teacher turned himself in to police following allegations of improper conduct. Robert Maxwell, Jr., a teacher at Madison Central High School, was arrested on May 25 and charged with one count of enticement of a child.

Authorities said Maxwell surrendered himself to police with his attorney present.

WABG reported that Maxwell appeared in Madison City Court on May 26 where his bond was set at $250,000.

Truck hauling chickens stifles I-55 traffic

An 18-wheeler traveling near U.S. Highway 8 near Grenada and the Paper Mill exit, overturned last week backing up traffic for hours. Authorities from the highway patrol said about 3 a.m., on May 21, the driver, Maynard Branson, 52, of Illinois, reportedly hit a bridge and ran off into a swampy area on the east side of the road.

Branson was reportedly hauling 40,000 pounds of frozen Tyson chickens.

Authorities said the southbound lanes of I-55 were closed and traffic rerouted to U.S. Highway 51 so the tractor trailer could be unloaded and the truck moved away from the water.

Branson was reportedly treated and released from a local hospital. He was not cited in the crash.
