JACKSON, Mississippi (AP) — Gov. Phil Bryant and Don Alway, the top FBI agent in Mississippi, are telling people to be vigilant about activity that might present a threat to public safety.
Bryant, Alway and others held a news conference Monday at the state Department of Public Safety headquarters in Jackson. They emphasized a longstanding slogan by the Mississippi Office of Homeland Security, “If you see something, say something.”
Alway said officials don’t want to create a society where residents are “consumed by fear,” but they want people to know where to call if they see unusual activities.
Mississippi Commissioner of Public Safety Albert Santa Cruz says emergency calls should go to 911, but people who have concerns about activities that are not immediately threatening can call 1-888-472-3367.
