Deadline nears to apply for NAACP contest

Time is running out to apply to participate in the NAACP ACT-SO competition.

The NAACP’s Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics is a yearlong achievement program designed to recruit, stimulate, and encourage high academic and cultural achievement among African-American high school students. The competition spans more than 26 categories in the areas of science, humanities, business, culinary, visual arts, and performing arts. The deadline for applications is Jan. 29.
