JACKSON, Miss. (AP) _ Officials say Mayor Frank Melton has been released from a hospital after being treated for an undisclosed ailment.
The 59-year-old mayor was checked into St. Dominic hospital in Jackson last Saturday.
City spokeswoman Goldia Revies confirmed Melton was released from the hospital Friday, but said she could not comment on his condition.
Melton had bypass surgery in 2007 to treat congestive heart failure. He had an aneurism in his leg in November and was treated again for heart failure in late December.
Melton thanked supporters for their “prayers and support.”
His criminal trail on civil rights violations has been delayed until February because of his health problems.
