CORINTH, Miss. (AP) – A Corinth man accused of leading law enforcement on a pursuit that turned fatal has been sentenced to 24 years in prison on a previous charge.
Assistant District Attorney David Daniels tells the Northeast Mississippi Daily News (http://bit.ly/2ggF1ur) Taylor Talley was already on probation with a suspended sentence for a prior burglary when he allegedly fled from police and crashed into several trees. Talley led law enforcement on a high speed chase that covered two counties on Nov. 7.
After the incident, the district attorney’s office filed a petition to revoke Talley’s previously suspended sentence. He was sentenced Monday.
A passenger in Talley’s car, 30-year-old Samantha N. Cruz, received fatal injuries in the crash.
Alcorn County Sheriff Ben Caldwell says deputies were attempting to serve a warrant on Talley when he fled the scene.
