HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) – Family members of two Hattiesburg police officers who were killed in the line of duty more than three months ago will receive funds on Monday from a special account set up for them.
WDAM-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1JALo1D ) the families of officers Benjamin Deen and Liquori Tate will each receive about $40,000. The money will be presented at City Hall on Monday at 2 p.m.
The funds were collected in an account set up at The First, a National Banking Association. It was established to help the families after the officers were shot to death during a routine traffic stop on May 9.
There’s still time to donate to the account. It will remain open until noon Friday.
