KILN – (AP) Hancock County authorities have filed felony child abuse charges against an 18-year-old man after his infant son was brought to a hospital with a broken leg.
Sheriff’s child investigator Glenn Grannan says Earnest Fontenot was arrested Monday at Hancock Medical Center after investigators talked with him about the 2-month-old’s injury.
The child was transferred to Children’s Hospital in New Orleans.
Grannan says the child’s leg was broken early Sunday but the baby wasn’t taken to the hospital until that night.
He says hospital staff alerted authorities.
Fontenot was being held in the county jail pending an initial court appearance.
