•    American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K walk/run is 9 a.m. Oct. 16 at the state Capitol in downtown Jackson. Registration begins at 8 a.m. To register or for more information, visit makingstridesjackson.org or call (601) 321-5500.

•    Rebirth Foundation will have a breast cancer awareness games/party at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 4, at Country Fisherman, 3110 U.S. 80W in Jackson. Tickets are $30 and cover a buffet and watching Monday night football. Games include bid whist, spades, pinochle, bridge, bingo and more. Val “Vivacious V.” McKnight Band will provide music. Advance tickets are available at Country Fisherman, Jackson Advocate, Baptist Hederman Cancer Center at Jackson Oncology Associates, Bully’s and Apollo’s Hair Design. •    Central Mississippi Steel Magnolias affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure will hold its Pink Tie Gala at 7 p.m. Oct. 21 at the Marriott Hotel, downtown Jackson. A VIP reception begins at 6 p.m. Gala tickets are $50. Gala and VIP reception tickets are $60 per person. Deadline to purchase tickets is Oct. 18. •    The Power of Pink: Breast Cancer Awareness is a Baptist Medical Center’s Breast Health Center and WLBT-Channel 3 sponsored effort. Baptist for Women will hold a women’s health day featuring free seminars and a free screening from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday. Screenings are available by appointment to the first 120 registrants and include glucose, total cholesterol, blood pressure and body mass index. •    Be on the lookout to add your signature on the 2010 Pink Honda Fit as part of the Drive to Inspire breast cancer awareness campaign. The car will be at Ridgeland High School’s homecoming game tonight and at the Mississippi State Fair Oct. 7. More events are being developed.
