• Central Mississippi Steel Magnolias affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure will hold its Pink Tie Gala at 7 p.m. Oct. 21 at the Marriott Hotel, downtown Jackson. • The Power of Pink: Breast Cancer Awareness is a Baptist Medical Center’s Breast Health Center and WLBT-Channel 3 sponsored effort. Baptist for Women will hold a women’s health day featuring free seminars and a free screening from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday. Screenings are available by appointment to the first 120 registrants and include glucose, total cholesterol, blood pressure and body mass index. • Be on the lookout to add your signature on the 2010 Pink Honda Fit as part of the Drive to Inspire breast cancer awareness campaign. The car will be at Ridgeland High School’s homecoming game tonight and at the Mississippi State Fair Oct. 7. More events are being developed.
