Mississippi Delta middle schoolers running own business

lsdLELAND, Mississippi (AP) — Five students from Leland Middle School are learning the value of entrepreneurship by running their own business.

The Delta Democrat-Times reports that their company is called 21st CCSLC Creations Inc.

Meara Brown, Irvin Palmer, Derrick Walker, Mallory Johnson, Jayden Felston and La’Darius Pratt held a news conference last week to show off their products.

They sell student-designed picture frames, stressed wood rock pictures, tie-dye T-shirts and keychains, soap, cologne, books, sculptures and pencil holders.

The students are learning about business through a project sponsored by the 21st Century Community Learning Center, which has partnered with Leland School District since 2010.
