Fourteen-month old victim had bruises on lower body

Greenville police are investigation the case of a 14-month old child allegedly abused by its mother. Phyliss Ervin was arrested after authorities found bruises on the legs and feet of the child in question.

Officials said Ervin hesitated in taking the child for medical treatment and officials at the Delta Regional Medical Center notified police, which is required, when the child was finally brought in.

Ervin was charged with child abuse and child neglect. She is currently being held at the Greenville City Jail.

Suspects in custody for robbery of local businesses

Greenville police have three suspects in custody for the robbery of a Mexican restaurant and a local convenience store. Johnathan McCoy, 20, Bruce Willis, 23 and Jonathon Johnson, 22, were arrested for holding up San Juan’s Mexican Grill and Delta One Stop.

Greenville Police Captain Andrew Kaho said the Leland Police Department also assisted in these arrests.

Long Beach man arrested for child porn

A coastal resident has been arrested and charged with possession of child pornography, Attorney General Jim Hood said. Samuel Fletcher, 42, was arrested on March 3, and charged with three counts of possession of child pornography.

Fletcher was arrested by investigators with the Cyber Crimes Division of the attorney general’s office. They were assisted by the Long Beach Police Department.

The arrest was made as part of the Attorney General’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, of which Long Beach PD is a member.

“As we promised with the formation of this task force,” Hood said, “we are going after those people in this state who are downloading child porn.”

Fletcher was booked at the Harrison County Jail and his bond was set at $75,000 ($25,000 per count).

If convicted, he faces up to 120 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC).
