Victim drove through closed area

A Harrison County man was killed Friday morning when he lost control of his motorcycle on Interstate 10, near the Harrison-Jackson County line. Authorities said about 4 a.m., Dec. 17, Christopher Adams, 33, drove into the blocked-off construction area, near exit 48, and lost control of his bike on a section of uneven pavement.

Adams was thrown into the open lanes and hit by two separate vehicles. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Highway officials don’t know why Adams drove into the construction zone, but said the area was “marked off” and the asphalt was uneven.

Authorities said Adams was traveling westbound when he entered the construction zone and he lost control as he tried to get back into the open lanes.

The incident remains under investigation.
