Mother of six killed in accident

MACON – A 35-year old mother of six was killed last week when authorities said she lost control of her vehicle while driving on U.S. Highway 14. According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol, on June 17, Jacqueline Yates was alone in her 1996 Ford Explorer when her vehicle left the roadway. No other vehicles were involved.

Relatives said Yates was on her way home to her family.

No other details about the accident were given other than Yates was pronounced dead at the scene by the Noxubee County Coroner.

It was unclear if Yates was wearing a seatbelt.

Authorities said a benefit fund has been established in Yates’ name at Citizen’s Bank in Macon because she leaves behind six children aged 3-months to 12-years. The funds will be used to pay for Yates’ funeral, which is scheduled for June 26 at Mount Olive Church, in Macon, and to assist in the rearing of her children.

To donate, call or stop by the Citizens Bank branch in Macon, or surrounding areas and ask about the Jaqcueline Yates Benefit Fund. Family members contact information is Margaret Yates (662) 361-3723 or Quarteshia Yates (662) 361-1570.
