Suspects sought in Abbeville bank robbery

Surveillance footage shows one of the suspects in last month's bank robbery in Abbeville running away. Both suspects remain at large.

ABBEVILLE – Teaming up with Oxford Police, the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department and the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department, the FBI is looking for two suspects wanted in connection with the armed robbery of a bank in Abbeville last month.

Authorities said on Tuesday, Nov. 29, one of the suspects followed bank employees – as they arrived for work – into the bank around 8:15 a.m. The suspect produced a pistol and ordered two employees on the ground while a third employee was forced to hand over an undisclosed amount of cash.

That suspect was described as being short in stature (approximately 5’6″ tall), wearing an all black, one-piece coverall, black gloves and a black ski mask.

The second suspect remained outside during the robbery, keeping watch through the drive-through teller’s window. Authorities said that person also had a gun. The second suspect was described as being of average height, dressed in a purple warm-up suit and hood, with white gloves and full face covering.

After forcing the third employee to the floor, the two suspects took the keys to an employee’s vehicle and left the scene. The vehicle has been recovered, but the two individuals remain at large.

No one was injured during the robbery.

Anyone having information about this robbery can contact the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office at 662-234-6421, or the FBI at 601-948-5000.
