GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) — The 26-year-old woman accused of stabbing her 3-year-old son has made her initial court appearance.
Nomatter Gava-Hudson appeared Monday before Harrison County Judge Brandon Ladner. During the brief hearing, Gava-Hudson was informed of the attempted murder charge against her, told she had the right to remain silent and the right to have an attorney. Ladner said he would appoint a public defender to represent her, but said she she could hire a private attorney.
WLOX-TV reports Gava-Hundson sobbed soflty while being asked questions by the court clerk. She sobbed the loudest when asked if she had any children, to which she replied she has a 3-year-old son. That’s the child she’s accused of stabbing last week, while arguing with her husband.
She’s being held on a $1 million bond.
