Teen was out on bond

A Warren County teenager has been arrested and charged with killing his mother’s boyfriend. Jeremy Blake Bowlin, 18, was arrested on Jan. 6, after authorities found the body of 25-year old Timothy Harmon at their residence in the 3400 block of U.S. Highway 80.

Authorities believe that Bowlin and Harmon had an argument earlier in the day and around 4 a.m., it escalated. Bowlin, who was already out on bond for two counts of auto burglary and possession of a stolen firearm, lived in the mobile home with his mother, 37-year old Christine Bowlin, and Harmon, her boyfriend.

Officers were called to the home after neighbors heard gunshots. When authorities arrived, dozens of neighbors had gathered around the home and Harmon was lying in the doorway of the residence. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A hunting rifle, believed to be the murder weapon, was also recovered at the scene.

Bowlin is being held without bond.

Police officer indicted for having sex with inmate

A former Indianola police officer has been indicted for allegedly having sex with two inmates in 2010. Keith Whitney was fired in June 2010 because of the alleged incidents which occurred in May 2010.

Whitney was charged with one count of attempted sexual penetration of an inmate on or about May 25, 2010 and a second count of sexual penetration with a female inmate and alleged oral sex with the inmate.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigations is handling the case.

Man who shot at girlfriend still at large

Police in Ocean Springs are looking for a man who allegedly assaulted his girlfriend with a gun and then fired the weapon in her home. Police said Catrell Dewayne Carradine, 25, allegedly assaulted his girlfriend at her residence in the 2300 block of Westbrook Drive and then fled the scene.

Officers were initially dispatched to the residence because of a domestic dispute.

Carradine is considered armed and dangerous and anyone knowing of his whereabouts should contact the Ocean Springs Police Department immediately at (228) 875-2211.

Man sought in convenience store robbery

Authorities in Lowndes County are looking for a man who allegedly robbed a local convenience store. On Jan. 5, officials said the suspect entered the Sprint Mart, on U.S. Highway 45 north, of Columbus, about 1:15 p.m.

The suspect reportedly asked the clerk for change for a dollar, and when she opened the register, he pushed her back and grabbed the money.

The suspect fled the scene in a late model Ford F-150 pick up truck. The truck was red and had a silver stripe with a silver tool box in the bed. It was last seen traveling north on U.S. Highway 45.
