MVSU LAUNCHES MEN’S COLLEGE

ITTA BENA, MS — Mississippi Valley State University will launch its College for Men on Friday, August 21, at 9 a.m. with an opening reception in the New Men’s Residence Hall. The Men’s College is a Renaissance Program Initiative designed to provide opportunities fro male scholars that graduate from a community college with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and enroll at MVSU for upper division academic studies in a specific discipline.

The primary goal of the Men’s College is to build upon the success of the male students who have demonstrated academic excellence by providing the following: a framework for leadership development, mentoring, academic support services, community service activities, etiquette training, career planning, internship exploration, computer technology development, and many other strategic projects and initiatives designed to “Prepare Male Scholars for Today’s Choices and Tomorrows Challenges.”

Mississippi Valley State University, founded in 1950, offers concentrated study in the arts, business, education, humanities, public services, pre-professional health services, social sciences, sciences, social work and technology.
