Here are some news and notes around Mississippi this week:

  • In Clinton, officials in Hinds County say a 77-year-old man died Sunday morning after being kicked by his horse.

Coroner Sharon Grisham Stewart tells WLBT-TV Robert Odom was found in a pasture near Clinton.

Other details about the death were not immediately available.

  • In Vicksburg, Authorities say a teenager was wounded in a drive-by shooting Saturday evening. Police Chief Walter Armstrong tells The Vicksburg Post the shooting happened at about 6 p.m. on South Street.

Armstrong would not release the identity of the victim but said the 16-year-old was taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Investigators say at least two shots were fired from a maroon car. At least three males were in the vehicle, Armstrong says.

Police are searching for suspects.

  • In Hamilton, an arrest has been made in the death of an Amory man. Authorities tell the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal the body of 50-year-old Tommy Harlow was discovered beaten to death around 6:30 a.m. Sunday at his sister’s home in Hamilton.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department says a suspect is in custody and will officially be charged with murder Monday.

The suspect’s name is not being released.

Coroner Alan Gurley says Harlow is believed to have died sometime around midnight.

Harlow’s body will be sent to the state medical examiner in Jackson on Tuesday for an autopsy.

  • In Jackson, Hollywood movie producer Adam Rosenfelt says a deal has been reached to film “The Most Wonderful Time,” starring Diane Keaton, Alan Arkin and others, in and around Jackson starting in late spring.

Rosenfelt has worked for years in New Orleans but said he and his wife fell in love with Mississippi, and he is planning to create a permanent motion picture business in Jackson.

Rosenfelt tells The Clarion-Ledger “The Most Wonderful Time” is a comedy centered on a family’s chaotic Christmas season. He said it will be produced by Imagine Entertainment and directed by Jessie Nelson, director of “I am Sam.”
