Former West Point judge arrested for breaking and entering

A former city judge with the city of West Point was arrested last Thursday in Monroe County after he allegedly tried to break into a house.

Man found dead in pickup truck

An autopsy will be conducted to determine how a man whose body was found in his vehicle in Itta Bena early Saturday morning died.

Leflore County Coroner Debra Sanders tells the Greenwood Commonwealth that 31-year-old Christopher Cross of Itta Bena was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police Chief Robert Kirklin says Cross’ body was found in his Chevrolet Tahoe, which was parked across the street from a convenience store in downtown Itta Bena. […]

Miss. reports new West Nile Virus cases

The Mississippi State Department of Health is reporting 29 new human cases of the West Nile virus.

The new cases were reported in Adams (2), Claiborne (1), Harrison (1), Hinds (5), Humphreys (1), Jackson (1), Jefferson Davis (1), Lamar (1), Lauderdale (1), Madison (5), Perry (1), Rankin (6), Sunflower (1), Warren (1), and Yazoo (1) counties, bringing the state total to 169 cases and four deaths. The football coach at Gulfport High School was hospitalized after a heart attack that may have started during a game. Mike Justice remained hospitalized Sunday at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport.

Minister guilty in Desoto voyeurism case

A judge in Desoto county has found a former Olive Branch Baptist minister guilty of making secret videos of women taking showers at his home.
