Fashion event to support Miss. natives and local nonprofit

Special to The Mississippi Link

Capital City Classic marks one of the biggest weekends in Jackson where the most fashionable emerge to show their creative styles. However, the trendsetting men’s and women’s fashions will be found on Saturday, Nov. 21 at the Arts Center of Mississippi (Downtown Jack-son) at the 2nd annual fashion show, “THEshow” presented by Ken Lucas of the Seattle Seahawks and KENFOLK Family Foundation. Doors open at 8 p.m. with the show starting at 9 p.m.

“THEshow” will not only present collections of well-designed couture and high fashion from Mississippi natives, but also support a worthwhile cause. A portion of all proceeds will be donated to the Community Outreach for Health Awareness, Inc. (COHA), a nonprofit that provides free health screenings and education to citizens in Hinds, Madison and Rankin counties.

“KENFOLK Family Foundation is all about giving back to the community and we didn’t want to host an event and not have a direct impact on the issues facing the community,” said Kenneth L. Smith, II, president of the Foundation. “THEshow” allows Mississippi natives an opportunity to display their talents for a great cause.”

Featured designs will include: LaureNicole, Ambeau’s, J.Bolin Presents NikiNikol and CHIC and others.

Sterling Photography will also unveil its latest art.

Following the show, there will be a trunk show with the designers, and giveaways featuring Mississippi athletes’ autographed paraphernalia as well as items from local businesses.

“THEshow” is sponsored by Kenfolk Family Foundation, Celebrity Stylist J. Bolin, Kenneth Lloyd, Celebrity Photographer Will Sterling, and Red August.

General admission is $20. Tickets are available at Bebop and at www.theshowjxn.com.
