Victim found by brother

Leland police are looking for suspects in the shooting death of a 27-year old man late Thursday afternoon. Jamal Williams was found by his brother hours after being shot in the back. Authorities responded to a shots fired call about 4 p.m., in the 400 block of Martin Luther King Blvd.

Police said they found evidence of a shooting in the area, but did not know there was a victim.

Williams’ brother was searching for him, police said when he discovered his body behind a house in the area.

The shooting remains under investigation.

Hancock County man shot multiple times

Authorities are investigating a shooting early Sunday morning that left a local man fighting for his life. Officials said the incident occurred around 9:30 a.m., Oct. 31 on Acker Road.

The unidentified victim was transported to a local hospital and a suspect is reportedly in custody. Further details are being withheld pending the investigation.

Lee County man killed during argument

Officials in Lee County are determining if charges will be filed in the death of a man killed late Friday night. Authorities said Ladarrius Walton, 20, went to a residence on West Garrison Street on Oct. 29. Walton reportedly started an altercation with the homeowner and he was hit in the head when the incident escalated to a physical altercation.

Witnesses confirmed that Walton was combative when he was hit in the head, and one unidentified person was taken in for questioning.

Autopsy results are pending and the incident remains under investigation.

Burglary and shooting suspect in custody

Greenville police said they have a man in custody who allegedly kicked in the door of a residence and fired two shots. There were two people home at the time. Michael Profit, Jr., 18, turned himself in on Oct. 27, and was charged with one count of burglary and two counts of aggravated assault.

Profit is waiting for his court appearance.
