Teresa is the widow and Mary is the mother of Adam Mayes, who authorities say killed Jo Ann Bain and her 14-year-old daughter, Adrienne, before kidnapping Bain's two other girls, Alexandria, 12, and Kyliyah, 8, in May 2012.

Teresa pleaded guilty to two counts of second degree murder and two counts of especially aggravated kidnapping. Mary pleaded guilty to two counts of especially aggravated kidnapping.

As a result of the plea agreements, Teresa was sentenced to a total of 35 years in prison. She will receive credit for the 460 days she has already spent behind bars. She will be taken to Tennessee Department of Correction.

Mary Mayes was sentenced to 13.5 years in prison for her role in the crimes. Those close to the case say Mary has been in and out of the hospital for months fighting a lung infection. She appeared frail in court, and entered the courtroom in a wheelchair.

“We feel like it's a just and fair resolution of criminal responsibility of these two ladies,” said Hardeman County District Attorney Mike Dunavant.

According to investigators, Adam Mayes went on the run with the two young girls and took his own life when he was finally caught by Mississippi wildlife resource officers two weeks later.

The two youngest girls were rescued and are now living with their father, Gary Bain.

“We have spoken to Gary Bain regarding the girls and how they're doing. They're attempting to adjust and acclimate to life,” said Dunavant.

As a result of the plea agreements, the two girls will not have to testify at a trial.
