Marshand Crisler rolls out comprehensive plan to prevent and reduce crime

Jackson, Mississippi – Marshand Crisler held a press conference today in front of the Jackson Police Department to roll out his comprehensive plan to prevent and reduce crime in Jackson. Crisler was joined by community leaders, supporters, elected officials, family, friends and members of our law enforcement community.

“We can’t afford to go backwards and we can’t afford to ignore the problem of crime anymore. We must decide to elect a leader we can trust to be tough on crime, the right way, and a leader who will prioritize public safety”, said Crisler, “I have the experience to fight crime. I served America in the US Armed forces for 21 years and recently retired as a Major. I am a 17 year veteran of the Hinds County Sheriff’s Department.”

Crisler spoke specifically about hiring and training more police officers to put on the streets and cracking down with tougher penalties and longer jail times for drug related crimes. Crisler said he would pay for his plan to prevent and reduce crime by making funding crime fighting a budget priority and seeking grants and additional forms of financial aid.

“In 1993, I took a bullet in the line of duty as a narcotics officer

fighting drug dealers on the mean streets of Jackson. I have already worked on the streets rooting out crime and drugs in our neighborhoods and putting drug dealers in jail. Now, I want to take my experience to City Hall as Mayor and help our Police Chief Fight Crime by providing the administrative leadership, and resources necessary to cut crime in Jackson”, stated Crisler at the press conference.

“It is vital that we send a strong message here today, at this hour—that Jackson, too, is ready for change and committed to bringing stability back to the Capitol City; that we will no longer settle for mediocrity and last place. We will all roll up our sleeves and get to work in making Jackson a safer, cleaner city, essentially, a better place to live and work.” said Crisler.

Councilman Marshand Crisler has been married to his wife of

22-years, Charlotte. The couple has three children, Rashaad, Dominique and Marshea. Marshand and his family belong to the New Jerusalem Church congregation and live in South Jackson.
