Jobs retained at Delphi Automotive’s Brookhaven facility

From The Mississippi Link Newswire

BROOKHAVEN – Delphi Automotive, a leading global supplier of electronics and technologies for the automotive industry, recently announced the retention of more than 200 jobs for their Brookhaven manufacturing facility. The company has invested nearly $15 million to enhance the Brookhaven plant which has been in operation since 1977.

Delphi’s investment will result in the purchase of new equipment and enhancements to the site in order to prepare for production of a new version of the printed circuit boards currently manufactured at the plant. The company plans to begin production of the new product in March 2013.

“I am delighted Delphi has looked to its Brookhaven facility to supply this new contract,” Gov. Barbour said. “Delphi has been a key corporate citizen in southwest Mississippi for more than 30 years. The company’s decision to further invest in its Brookhaven plant is great news for southwest Mississippi.”

MDA worked closely with local officials to support the project and provided funding through the Momentum Mississippi incentives program and the Job Protection Grant Program.

The Lincoln County Industrial Development Foundation and Entergy Mississippi also provided assistance for this project.

“From its Brookhaven location, this global business will produce technologically-advanced, environmentally-friendly electrical centers to power the vehicles of the future,” said Leland Speed, executive director of MDA. “I am proud MDA was able to support this project, which will retain more than 200 workers currently employed at the facility and will continue to benefit the southwest Mississippi economy in the years ahead.”
