PASCAGOULA, Mississippi — High pressure has settled over the region that will leave the Mississippi coast with a string of lovely spring days, according to the National Weather Service forecast.
Today will be sunny with a high of 68 dipping to a low of 49 and temperatures will grow warmer as the week progresses.
No rain is in the forecast through Sunday with high temps in the mid-70s.
A flood warning remains in effect for the Pascagoula River at Merrill and Graham Ferry.
The river stage at Graham Ferry is 15.3 feet with flood stage at 16.0 feet. It’s expected to crest at 16.5 feet next week.
At Merrill, the river stage is at 19.7 feet with flood stage at 22 feet. It is forecast to crest at 24 feet on Tuesday, which should make the bridge impassable to car traffic.
Nationally, temperatures will soar into the 80s through much of the western Plains on Wednesday representing temperatures 10-20 degrees above average. In addition, winds in this region will be dry and gusty on Wednesday, creating dangerous fire weather conditions. Numerous Red Flag Warnings are in effect. Any fires that develop could quickly spread out of control.
