Dads & Jazz Brunch June 13

Special to The Mississippi Link

The Links, Inc., LeFleur’s Bluff Chapter, Jackson, Mississippi, proudly announces its Second Dads and Jazz Brunch designed to salute and express appreciation to all dads in the Metro Jackson and surrounding areas.

As part of their effort to provide world class leadership, friendship and service, members of the LeFleur’s Bluff Chapter of the Links, Incorporated view the event as an opportunity to recognize, honor, and demonstrate respect to fathers who so richly deserve accolades.

“We take great pride in this community-wide salute to fathers given the value of dads to our children, families and communities,” stated Eleanor Mitchell, President of the LeFleur’s Bluff Chapter of the Links, Inc.

The brunch will be held on June 13, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Jackson State University Student Center Ballroom, located on the university’s campus at the corner of Dalton and Lynch Street, in Jackson.

The event will feature a succulent brunch menu and music provided by Dowell Taylor and Company. Most importantly, the event offers the opportunity for fathers to be revered and celebrated by friends, family and the community.

According to event chairperson and chapter member, Sharon Reed, a tribute book reflecting photos of select fathers along with expressions of love from their children and family members will be disseminated during the brunch. Ads are being solicited for the tribute book so that fathers will have a tangible memento of the event designed to honor them.

Funds raised from the brunch ($50 per person) will support the continued efforts and work of the LeFleur’s Bluff Chapter, particularly as relates to services to youth at Rowan Middle School and the general community, national trends, international trends, health and wellness, education and the arts. The Chapter has mentored young girls at Rowan for more than sixteen years; partners with Jackson State University in hosting an annual HIV/AIDS awareness town meeting at the Jackson Medical Mall; participates in events promoting breast cancer awareness; and is actively involved in efforts to support organ, bone marrow and tissue donation in collaboration with the Mississippi Organ Recovery Agency (MORA).
