JACKSON – (AP) Two more Mississippi community colleges have announced tuition increases for the fall semester.
Northeast Mississippi Community College and Itawamba Community College announced its board of trustees approved the higher fees at meetings in April.
Earlier this month, Copiah-Lincoln Community College said tuition would be going up for the 2013-14 school year. The tuition for a fulltime student will increase $125 per semester to $1,100.
Itawamba officials say the cost of tuition when school begins in the fall of 2013 will go up $100 to $1,050 per semester.
Northeast’s tuition per semester for a fulltime Mississippi resident student goes from $1,050 to $1,125.
Out-of-state students also will pay more.
Northeast President Johnny L. Allen says the increase is the first since 2010 but it is never a popular move.
