CORINTH – Alcorn County officials are investigating a bizarre accident that left an 82-year-old woman dead. Juanita Rogers was pronounced dead at the scene after officials said her car rolled back and ran over her.

Chuck Hinds, a captain with the Corinth Police Department, said they were called to a residence in the 500 block of Walnut Circle Saturday about 2:26 p.m. When they arrived, Rogers was pinned under her 2002 Ford Explorer.

The Corinth Fire Department was dispatched to the scene to extricate Rogers from the vehicle and emergency responders from Magnolia Regional Hospital were also on hand.

Hinds said Rogers and her sister, Lorraine Rogers, 77, were unloading items from the back of the vehicle when it started moving and rolled over Rogers pinning her underneath.

Rogers’ death is being ruled accidental, but the incident remains under investigation.
